Texas is one of the biggest states in the country, with hundreds of breweries located in different areas. Texan beer enthusiasts can find it hard to choose which brewery to visit next. In honor of National Drink Beer Day, the Eat Drink Local Texas team composed a list of 20 of the best Texas Breweries you must try.


From historic San Antonio to contemporary Austin and bustling Houston, this guide will ensure you get to all the next best breweries in your area!


1. Free Roam Brewing Company

With a passion for craft beer, Jeremy Affeldt, a former three-time world baseball champion, fell in love with beer and the process of beer making, which prompted the start of this Boerne brewery. Now, Free Roam Brewery features a variety of delicious IPA beers and an entertaining, welcoming environment for all.



2. Busted Sandal Brewing Company

Located in San Antonio, Busted Sandal opened in 2013, intending to create excellent hand-crafted beer. This San Antonio brewery features a variety of unique craft beers made with locally sourced seasonal ingredients for all beer enthusiasts to enjoy. Be sure to visit them on Wednesdays for a $3 pint per night deal!



3. Barrelman Brewing Company

A family-owned and operated microbrewery, the Barrelman is a family-friendly joint that welcomes everyone in the Boerne community. They brew high-quality craft beer in small batches, unique and full of flavor. Their menu consists of Barrelman's distinctive hand-crafted beers, such as the StrawBerry Witty, a tasty wheat beer with strawberry puree, and a variety of guest beers, including IPAs, Ciders, and more. 4. New Braunfels Brewing Company

Bought by Jacklyn and Brian Herbert last year, this brewery is located at the heart of downtown New Braunfels, Texas, and is home to various flavorful craft beers. Each flavor is carefully articulated by hired brewmaster David Jones, who dedicates a new approach to toasting the barley, malts, or hops making each of their 14 flavors taste unique. Even non-beer drinkers can sit down and enjoy a variety of ciders, wine, and non-alcoholic options.



5. Second Pitch Beer Company

Voted as San Antonio's best new-ish brewery in 2022, this family-owned craft brewery strives for beer that is different from the norm, strong in flavor, and harkens back to traditional roots. 6. Texas Cannon Brewing Company

Enjoy various beer flavors, such as the Texas Cannon Stout On Nitro which is brewed with an abundance of chocolate and roasted malt, making it a flavorful chocolatey coffee beer. This family-owned business has produced craft beers in the Texas Hill Country area since 1996. 8. Freetail Brewing Company

Created in 2008, the Freetail Brewing Company incorporated the idea that a brewery shouldn't just make good beer; it should also embody San Antonio, the city it calls home. Now, this San Antonio brewery holds not just beer but also fun events, live music, and entertainment for locals to enjoy. 9. Weathered Souls Brewing Co.

Named the best brewery in the United States in 2020 by the online magazine Hop Culture, this independent brewery welcomes everyone to come in and try their beers. What started with four guys in a garage with some brewing equipment soon became one of Houston's largest and most unique barrel rooms.
