In Historic Downtown New Braunfels, there is a microbrewery making flavorful craft beers on a macro level!
Bought last year by Jacklyn and Brian Hebert from the original owner Kelly Meyer, NBBC is a dedicated brewery in New Braunfels with a bar for tasting that emphasizes how various the brewing process can be. Jacklyn and Brian gave the 10-year-old business a new feel and vibe to ensure that anyone can come in and enjoy a refined atmosphere while trying out the latest brews. With new renovations in the bar room and a new beer garden patio set up for outdoor seating, anyone is welcome to sit down and enjoy a well-crafted flight with friends and family alike.
The couple hired brewmaster David Jones, who puts his expertise and passion on display with every new batch. Each flavor is made with a new approach to toasting the barley, malts, or hops, providing a unique flavor for each of their 14 menu options, ranging from mild, smooth lagers, to rich, chocolatey porters, and to bright, amber ales or IPA's.
"We don't discriminate based on color here," said David in regards to all of the options that are brewed up on a daily basis.
From the renowned pickle sour beer that the business was known for before being bought by the Heberts to the newer "Wee Heavy" Scottish porter, we know that the couple made the right decision in expanding the brew selection with the wonders that Mr. Jones can whip up.
When speaking with Jacklyn, she regarded how it had been a dream of her and Brian to one day own a brewery and even purchase property in Canyon Lake for a future location! They were inspired by the road they used to live on in England, called Whip Lane, to create the flavors that they currently serve, including a porter of the same name, the Whip Lane Porter.
It all started with a home brewing hobby that Brian picked up a few years back. Their dream to own a brewery became a reality last year, with former owner Kelly helping the couple in every way to transition and transform the place. It has now evolved into one of the best New Braunfels breweries to enjoy flights that are brewed every day, with an engaging staff that will make you feel like family as they nerd out about the brewing process; a craft beer drinker's delight! Even those not into craft beers can expect ciders, wine, and non-alcoholic options for anyone to come to enjoy this wonderful spot. This is a place for anyone to drink and be merry in New Braunfels!
